(DPL) - translates 'The Pomeranian People' - is a quarterly
genealogical newsletter that contains condensed paragraphs
(Items) of information about Pomeranian families that have been
submitted to DPL as well as articles about available Pomeranian
records and articles about Pomeranian history and culture.
The current Full Name index, which is online, lists over 140,000 individuals.
This website maintains a complete collection of DPL issues that you can
download. Finding Possible Ancestors -- Choose the surname and given name of one ancestor. Go to the online Full Name Index. Scroll down the list of webpages to locate the webpage that would contain the selected surname and click on the link. On the webpage, scroll down to locate the selected surname and given name. After each occurrence of a surname/given name you will find one or more two number pairs. The surname/given name and the number pairs allow you to download and print the DPL issues in which the surname/given name appeared. Those issues also contain the contact information of the submitter who provided the ancestoral information. The first number in each pair is the ID number of the item the surname/given name appeared in. The second number is the ID number assigned to the submitter that sent in the item. To find the DPL issue the DV Item appeared in, go to the Index Search page. There you can enter the item number in the right most search box. The result will include the DPL Volume/Issue number and a list of the names contained in that DV Item. You can then go to the Past Articles page to print out the pdf of the DPL that contained the DV Item. Just enter the Volume Number in the right most box and click Search. The DPL will also have the contact information for all the submitters for that issue on the next to last page. Many Pomeranian families came from villages with less than a few hundred inhabitants. If this is the case for the village of one of your ancestors, you may be interested in contacting others interested in the same village, even if they are researching other surnames. This website also maintains an index of Pomeranian villages that have appeared in DPL ancestor items. Finding Other Researchers -- Chose a village name associated with one of your ancestors. Go to the online Village Index. Scroll down the list of webpages to locate the webpage that would contain the selected village name and click on the link. On the webpage, scroll down to locate the village name. After each village name is a county name and a submitter number. Note that a village name can be found in more than one county. The village, county and submitter number allow you to find the contact information for a submittor you in which you may have something in common. To find the DPL issues where the sumitter provided a DV item that mentioned the the village name you are interested in, go to the Index Search page. There you can enter the sumitter number in the middle search box. The result will include all DV items for that submitter along with the village names occurring in each item and the Volume / Issue the DV Item occured in. You can then go to the Past Articles page to print out the pdf of the DPL that contained the DV Item. Just enter the Volume Number in the right most box and click Search. The DPL will also have the contact information for all the submitters for that issue on the next to last page. |
