Our Mission: To encourage those with ancestry from the Baltic
Sea duchy of Pomerania to contact others and record its people, share resources and inform others of
Pomeranian history, geography, cultural and social influence and worldwide impact
Myron Gruenwald began publication of Die Pommerschen Leute (The Pomeranian People) newsletter in 1982
and continued until his death in 1998. During 2000-2001, Toni Perrone and the Immigrant Genealogical Society formed the
Pomeranian Special Interest Group to continue publication of the newsletter. In 2021, the Pomeranian Special
Interest Group transformed itself into a California non-profit, public benefit corporation.
Our activities include:
Quarterly publication of Die Pomerschen Leute (DPL).
Four webinars with national and/or international speakers.
Two Connection Sessions annually.
Publication of Pomeranian Special Interest Group News which provides up-to-date
information on webinars and Connections Sessions.
A Facebook page that provides the latest Pomeranian news.
A website that supports the Pomeranian Special Interest Group.
An online index to the more than 6,700 family group sheets published in the Die Vorfahren
section of the Die Pommerschen Leute with over 125,000 full names.
An online index to articles that have been published in the Die Pommerschen Leute along with
the ability to purchase back issues for a nominal donation.
