"Pomeranian Land Records as Vital Records Substitutes" with Chris DeWuske

Chris DeWuske Photo Chris DeWuske has been actively researching his family history for nearly a decade, including on-site research at foreign archives. Through this experience, he has uncovered a wealth of resources that are typically overlooked and strongly advocates for open records initiatives.

As founder and creator of the website MyPomerania, through donations, he has crowdfunded all types of Pommern documents to be photographed in the Polish archives and made them freely available online. His website is a combination of some great Pomeranian information, research tips and these free records from Polish archives. He is the past co-editor of Die Pommerschen Leute (2016-2017) and past editor from (2017-2019).

Chris lives with his wife, two dogs, and five cats in the Hudson, Wisconsin area. He is currently a business teacher, holding an M.A. in Educational Technology and a B.A. in Visual Arts Education. In his free time, he enjoys reading, writing, photography, painting, gardening, and spending time in the great outdoors. When not working on family history, he likes to work with fostering and socializing rescue animals.
